I had the pleasure of meeting and working with this amazing woman about a year ago when we worked on a Self Love Session together- it also marked her first year anniversary of starting her journey on HRT, which was so special to commemorate! So now that year two is here, we had to celebrate that with another shoot- this time with some saucy boudoir! Witnessing her growth, blossoming, and strength has been such a pleasure and inspiration.
Some words from Kara:
“I have spent a majority of my life looking in the mirror and not seeing myself. The inner turmoil that comes from not being who I knew I was meant to be is indescribable and painful. It is draining just to exist. Everything is a performance. My whole existence has been a costume. I was born an actress playing a boy, trying to be a man. Trying to fill the role dictated to me by circumstance.
Two years ago I took the steps necessary to save my life. I could not have done this alone. Just taking the first step was petrifying. Thank you to the person who helped me take those steps. Thank you to the friends and partners that have been there along the way. The family that has stuck with me and those that reached out after.
I have been lucky enough to know Amy since that first year of HRT. Life was all change. There was no normal. Mental and physical state were both in constant flux. I had no time to discover who I was. At that time things were better but still hard. I was striding in the right direction but I had no idea if I would ever find myself or if it were even possible. Amy documented those changes in a Self Love shoot on the first anniversary of starting HRT.
I decided to go back to Amy this year for a boudoir shoot on the second anniversary and I had no idea how emotional the delivery of these images would be. When I saw the first photograph my heart soared! I was looking at me… For one of the first times in my life I saw ME. That “famous actress” I always dreamed of being. I was in tears! Thank you Amy for not just capturing the essence of me. Thank you for seeing me and understanding me. Thank you for caring about your clients and the strides you take to make these experiences the special soul-treats that they are.

I am endlessly thankful that I get to work with such wonderful humans. For their trust in me. For allowing me to witness them and celebrate with them. My world wouldn’t be as wonderful as it is without you all!!
